<title>Revolution - featuring the art of the Beatles</title>
				      <link>http://calendar.danshamptons.com/events/index.php&#63;com=detail&amp;eID=14004</link>
<description>Revolution, featuring the art of the Beatles is the first exhibit of its kind that showcases hand signed works by John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr as well rare Beatles photographs, lithographs, animation and more plus a section of art and photos from the Beatles friends and influences such as Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Rolling Stones, The Who, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan and David Bowie. “Revolution opens to the public on Thursday, July 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Martha Clara Vineyards, 6025 Sound Avenue in Riverhead on the North Fork of Long Island on the east end. The free exhibit is open from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. everyday through Sunday, July 13th (including July 4th) and every piece is available to purchase.
Ron Campbell, director of the legendary Saturday morning Beatles Cartoon series that aired on ABC from September 25, 1965 through April 20, 1969 and animator on the Beatles film Yellow Submarine will make a rare personal appearance at the Revolution art show on Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13. In his book, Up Periscope, Yellow Submarine Producer Al Brodax gives Ron Campbell a great deal of credit for saving the movie Yellow Submarine and tying it all together at the last minute.
In addition to his Beatles past, Ron has been involved with some of the most beloved cartoons including, Scooby Doo, Krazy Kat, George of the Jungle, The Jetsons, The Flintstones, the Smurfs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Goof Troop, The Big Blue Marble, Rugrats, Ed, Edd &amp; Eddy and dozens more. Ron will have many of his original Beatles paintings on sale as well as give attendees a live demonstration of his painting.
Pauline Sutcliffe, Wainscott resident and sister of fifth Beatle Stuart Sutcliffe will also be appearing at the Revolution Art Show on Saturday, July 5 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Stuart Sutcliffe’s influence on the Beatles was extraordinary. Stuart was coaxed into joining the band by his roommate, art school classmate and closest friend John Lennon. Stuart, an accomplished artist at a young age, sold one of his paintings and used the money to purchase a bass guitar. During Sutcliffe’s time with the band, he gave them their name, designed their collarless jackets and with his fiancée Astrid Kirrchher, created the “Beatles Mop Top” haircut. He quit the band while in Hamburg, Germany to pursue his art career and stay with Astrid. Tragically, Stuart died in 1962 at the age of 21 from a brain hemorrhage. In 1994, the film Backbeat was produced dramatizing Stuart’s short life. In 2006, the BBC commissioned a new documentary about Stuart’s life and art entitled, “Stuart Sutcliffe – the Lost Beatle.” It received the Creative Excellence award at the US International Film and Video Festival. Pauline will be showcasing some of her brother’s original works of art as well as a recently published special limited edition Sutcliffe piece, entitled, “Meet the Beatals.”
Revolution, featuring the art of the Beatles opens Thursday, July 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Martha Clara Vineyards, 6025 Sound Avenue in Riverhead and runs for 10 days only. The exhibit is free to the public and all works are available to purchase. Sponsored by Progressive Radio for Long Island, 92.9 &amp; 96.9 'EHM. For more information call (610) 389-1807.

				      <title>Esses Studio Gallery Opening</title>
				      <link>http://calendar.danshamptons.com/events/index.php&#63;com=detail&amp;eID=14483</link>
<description>Groundbreaking Modern Art Collection Comes to Sag Harbor Art Gallery

The Esses Studio Gallery opens to the public on Saturday July 5th

SAG HARBOR, N.Y., June 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The evening of Saturday, July
5th, Esses Studio will open its doors at 40 Madison Street on what will be
the newest and most eclectic Art Gallery on the East End. On opening night,
the Gallery will feature seminal, rarely shown, works of Rolph Scarlett,
Gary T. Erbe, and The Graffiti 1980 Studio.

The Esses Studio Gallery is particularly proud to present major
collected works from the pivotal Graffiti 1980 Studio, which, founded by
Sam Esses in 1979, became the harbinger of an extraordinary new art form.
The Studio brought together previously isolated artists who ultimately
produced over 30 major canvases. With selected works now in the Smithsonian
Archives and the Corcoran Gallery in Washington D.C., the Studio has come
to be recognized as the place where the early 80's renaissance began -- the
fulcrum for a magical moment in New York's graffiti culture.

Recently featured in Forbes magazine, the work of Rolph Scarlett has
been called uniquely American, an innovator and pioneer in the art
community. Scarlett was a leading practitioner of geometric abstraction;
his works ranged from novel sculptural jewelry to industrial and set
designs, some creations even finding their way into World's Fair amusement
rides. Several pieces of his work were acquired by the Guggenheim and now
extraordinary examples of his American Modernist canvasses and sculptural
jewelry masterpieces can be seen at the Esses Studio Gallery.

In 1969, Gary Erbe broke away from Traditional Realism with his own
'Levitational Realism' ... As Erbe has explained, 'I have tried to bridge
the gap between modern art and realism, never abandoning technique, while
trying to create a personal style of work attuned with the time in which I
live.' Significant examples of Erbe's novel representations will form a
cornerstone of The Esses Studio Gallery and can be viewed in this expansive
yet intimate new art environment in the heart of Sag Harbor.

The Esses Studio launch event is open to all starting at 6:00 pm. Saturday
July 5th.

Research shows that many dogs are turned into shelters due to behavioral problems, and often animals develop behavioral problems due to lack of exercise and stimulation. “Fitness with Fido” will provide dogs and their owners with exercise, plus an opportunity to socialize (with other pets and humans), which is crucial for a dog’s well-being.

Adopting a dog can truly improve your health and lifestyle. According to a study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention the majority of dog owners take at least two walks a day and 42 percent of owners tally 30 or more minutes of walking each day, and what could be better than taking that walk together with other dog owners and animal lovers.

The group will meet at 9:00 am on Saturdays at the Gazebo on the Village Green on Main Street in Westhampton Beach. Dogs must be leashed, and it is recommended that participants bring water and drinks for themselves and their pet. “Fitness with Fido” will take place weather permitting. If it is raining or too warm (80 degrees or more) the walk will not take place that day.

Bideawee’s Westhampton Adoption Center, Veterinary Practice, Learning Center for People and Pets, and Pet Memorial Park and are located at 118 Old Country Road.

<title>Phillip Gotthelf, Singer/Songwriter/Musician to perform at OSO at Southampton Inn</title>
				      <link>http://calendar.danshamptons.com/events/index.php&#63;com=detail&amp;eID=14784</link>
<description>Commodity Markets Expert Phillip Gotthelf Returns to Musical Roots
Singer/Songwriter/Musician to perform at OSO at Southampton Inn, July 5

During the heyday of James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Simon &amp; Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, and Peter, Paul &amp; Mary, folk clubs in Manhattan teemed with aspiring artists. Among them was a young artist, Phillip Gotthelf now better known to TV audiences as a leading expert in commodity markets. But back then, Philip played all the great clubs - Folk City, The Electric Circus, The Bottom Line Café Wha, The Bitter End, and The Night Owl Café. He also plied his trade in the Hamptons hitting night spots like The Artful Dodger, The Hampton Arts, The Drivers Seat, The Cove, The Club at Canoe Place, and more.

Now, he presents his retrospective in a unique performance at The Southampton Inn. While most recognize him as a commodity markets expert who regularly appears in a bow tie on CNBC, Bloomberg TV, and the three networks, he will be more casual, avoiding questions about crude oil price trends and the direction of the corn market and focus on the music!

Singer/songwriter/musician Phillip Gotthelf will perform at OSO at the Southampton Inn, Saturday, Saturday, July 5 from 9pm to 11:30pm. There is no cover charge. OSO is located at the Southampton Inn, 91 Hill Street, Southampton. Call 631-283-1166 for reservations.

<title>Revolution - featuring the art of the Beatles</title>
				      <link>http://calendar.danshamptons.com/events/index.php&#63;com=detail&amp;eID=14005</link>

<title>The Gallery in Sag Harbor Presents A New Exhibition, Featuring the Works of Michelle Suna</title>
				      <link>http://calendar.danshamptons.com/events/index.php&#63;com=detail&amp;eID=14274</link>
<description>A selection of new works by Michelle Suna will open to the public at The Gallery Sag Harbor on Saturday, July 5. Champagne and hors d’oeuvres from Amagansett’s Turtle Crossing will be served from 5 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Described as 'abstract reality,' the genre of her works is widely varied. Ms. Suna's paintings and photographs enable viewers to enter an evocative painterly world, without the muddle of artifice or barriers. Guided by her innate and direct aesthetic sense, she consistently explores color, light and form in a unique and courageous manner that produces a sublime integration of abstracted reality.

“Whether interpreting a magnificent landscape or creating a wholly abstract world, it is all there, in me, my spirit, in my hands, to create and convey a visual expression of our natural environment,” Suna explained. “ I’ve always been fascinated by the natural world, the serene beauty of our environment, its simple wonders, its tenuous fragility. Capturing its boldness of form, color, light or texture is the basic language of my expression.”

Private collectors of Ms. Suna's works include Eric Clapton, Dieter Dierks, Ray Elvin, Corina Forstmann, Sasha Match and NBC's Mike Taibbi. Additionally, her art has been exhibited in galleries both in New York City and the Hamptons.

About The Gallery:
Located on Main Street in Sag Harbor, The Gallery will feature established and emerging contemporary artists in all media. The Gallery is open weekends, Friday through Sunday from Noon until 6 p.m., and by appointment.

**July 4th Annual Silent Auction

HELP VERED GALLERY HELP THE YOUTH OF SDEROT!
Vered Gallery has announced the 20th semi-annual July silent auction to benefit the Sderot Youth Trauma Treatment Theater Program, which was conceived in the 1970s by Dr. Louis Miller, director of the Department of Community Psychiatry in the Israel Ministry of Health. It functioned with great success in poor neighborhoods throughout Israel, serving traumatized immigrant youths.

The concept has been reinstituted in Sderot%97a target of missile attacks launched from Gaza%97using initial seed money provided by Vered Gallery, raised at its Thanksgiving Auction in 2007. <title>Revolution - featuring the art of the Beatles</title>
				      <link>http://calendar.danshamptons.com/events/index.php&#63;com=detail&amp;eID=14006</link>
